4 essential plans to enjoy the Cíes Islands
Cíes is one of those essential places in any visit to Galicia. The charm of this islands, which belongs to the Parque Nacional das Illas Atlánticas, is perfect for nature, beach, and adventure. It is also very close to our Camping Mougás, so getting to the islands will be very easy, in a boat from Baiona or Vigo. To enjoy your trip to the Cíes, we have prepared four plans to fully enjoy this Atlantic paradise.
Bathing in the best beach in the world
The beaches are one of the main attractions of the Cies Islands. Turquoise blue and fine sand, the islands have 9 beaches in different parts of the islands. Bolos, Nosa Señora, Figueiras... Although if you have to choose one, we recommend Rodas Beach, considered by The Guardian as one of the best in the world. To try their crystalline (and cold) waters is one of those experiences that you can not miss during your day in Cíes.
Hiking on the route of O Faro
This route, approximately 3 hours long (round trip) is the most popular on the island. The route begins at the jetty, crosses the lake and then begins the climb to Monte Faro. We recommend stopping at the bird watching point before finally climbing to the top of O Faro, where we can find an impressive panoramic view of the islands. A tip: when you cross the lake, and if the water is clear, different species of fish can be observed from there. If you are with children, do not hesitate to stop at this point, they will love it!
Take pictures in Alto do Príncipe
To get to Alto do Príncipe, we must climb Monte Agudo (a journey of about an hour and a half, round trip). The effort is worth it since there we find one of the most impressive views from the island. Prepare the camera because the landscape is breathless. The cliffs of Cíes and the rock formations of this part of the island are one of the best to get postcard pictures.
A picnic. Why not?
One of those essential plans in the islands is a picnic. Only, with a partner, with children ... Eating outdoors in any of the areas that have the islands. Yes, in the Cíes there are no bins, so remember to bring a bag to collect the leftovers. A safe bet to eat and enjoy nature at the same time.
If you are wishing to visit this paradise in the Ría de Vigo, do not hesitate and choose Camping Mougás for your summer holidays. An ideal place to travel around the beautiful corners of the Galician coast in a privileged environment. We are waiting for you!
